Children & Dogs
I feel children should be able to grow up with dogs as this is a good experience to care and nurture another being. However, this must be done in a safe environment for both child and dog. With this in mind, if anybody finds themselves in a position of owning a dog but also knowing a new baby is on the way, this often results in the whole family panicking and the dog being re-homed.
I have found over the years the panic is unfounded and that the resident dog can be trained to accept the new arrival and as the baby grows, this child can be taught how to respond correctly to dogs.
Following on from this, I also run a course called safe dogs safe kids. This course helps parents train both children and dogs together and thus enabling both parties to respect each other.
